Ted Lee

Ted Lee founded T Plus Capital to provide strategic, financial and business development advisory services to accounting, financial valuation services and human capital firms in China and assist Chinese enterprises to raise equity capital from private equity and venture capital funds. Ted has a long history of providing advice on cross border investments, mergers and acquisitions, and has extensive experience in providing audit and accounting services to international and multinational companies in China and the United States. Ted is also a senior advisor to Duff & Phelps, a global financial valuation firm, and most recently has also served as Executive Director at Prax Capital, which is a private equity firm specializing in China-focused investments with over US$300 million of assets under management.

Prior to affiliating with Duff & Phelps and Prax, Ted was a senior partner at Deloitte, where he spent 31 years in both Asia and the United States. Ted pioneered Deloitte’s China initiative and opened its first office in Shanghai in 1992. Before moving to Shanghai, he was the office managing partner of Deloitte China’s Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Beijing offices. Prior to his working in China, he practiced in Deloitte’s Taipei and Los Angeles offices. He also led the Manufacturing - Automotive Industry Group of Deloitte China’s national practice. Ted’s professional accounting experience included managing local statutory audits, consolidating audits for international clients, audits for companies seeking listings, supervising due diligence reviews for acquisitions, and assisting in joint venture negotiations in connection with international clients’ cross-border investments in China. Clients in China and Taiwan served by Ted included General Motors, Delphi, Dongfeng Citroen Automotive, Dow Chemical, BASF, International Paper, Meiya, Tyco and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation.

Ted holds a MBA in finance and accounting from University of Southern California and a B.S. in accounting from California State University, Fresno. Ted is a U.S. certified public accountant. He is also a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, California Society of Certified Public Accountants, Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, American Chamber of Commerce (a founding member of its Financial Services Committee) and is Chairman of USC Alumni Club of Shanghai.

Ian Ross
Mr. Ross is a Senior Vice President of CRT Capital, a boutique financial firm focused on sales and trading of High Yield, Distressed, Convertible and Emerging Market Debt as well as Equities. Mr. Ross' specific focus is executing cross border transactions with a specific focus on Emerging Markets. Prior to joining CRT in 2006, Mr. Ross was a founding partner of Loughlan Group, advising clients in the private equity and merchant banking sectors on strategic investments and acquisitions. Prior to forming Loughlan, Mr. Ross was a Latin America-focused investment banker at Morgan Stanley and an Emerging Markets banker at CSFB. For over a 15 year period Mr. Ross was responsible for activities that included fixed income sales and trading, new product development, capital markets origination, relationship management, merger advisory and fund formation. Mr. Ross received a BA from the University of Western Ontario. Mr. Ross speaks fluent Spanish and resides in New York with his family.

Raimundo (Ray) Ruga
Mr. Ruga is a principal of the CVOX Group, LLC, a global strategy and communications firm. The firm has represented a diverse set of clients, including MasterCard, Coeur Mining, Darby Overseas and Bulltick Captal Markets among others. Ray has over 17 years of diversified and specialized international political, governmental and corporate experience. He has worked for three presidential campaigns, The White House, The Pentagon, a U.S. development agency and two Fortune 10 companies.

From 2004 through April 2007, Ray was Vice President and Director of Government Affairs for Citigroup Latin America while simultaneously managing the regional public affairs portfolio for the Citigroup Global Wealth Management division. During his tenure, Ray also served as Communications and Business Research Manager for the Citigroup Private Bank in Latin America as well as directing media relations for all of Citigroup in the region. From 2000- 2003, Ray served an Assistant Vice President in the Political Risk Insurance division of the American International Group (AIG) in New York City. Prior to that, Ray served as an Investment Insurance Officer at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) in Washington, D.C., specializing in political risk insurance transactions for Central America and East Africa. Starting in 1993, Ray was appointed by President William J. Clinton to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, where he served as the Desk Officer for Argentina, Cuba and Central America. In August 1994 he was named as the Director of the Cuba Task Force by the Secretary of Defense to oversee the department's efforts in managing a crisis that put 30,000 Cuban migrants at the U.S. Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. From 1993 through 1994, Ray traveled both domestically and internationally as an advance staff member for President Clinton. Ray also served on both of President Clinton's campaigns, working on the advance team in 1992 and then as the Midwest Press Director in 1996 as well as on the Kerry-Edwards 2004 Presidential campaign as the Deputy Director for Florida Hispanic Outreach.

Ray received both his Bachelor's degree in International Business and his MBA in Finance from George Washington University. He speaks fluent Spanish and resides in Miami with his family.

David Cohn
David S. Cohn is a law partner with Troutman Sanders LLP, an 800-attorney law firm with 15 offices in the United States, London, Hong Kong and Shanghai. He currently practices in the Firm’s Shanghai office, formerly practiced in its New York City and Richmond, Virginia, offices, served as chairman of its Real Estate Investments Practice Group and currently serves as a member of its Lending and Structured Finance and Project Development and Finance Practice Groups. He is admitted to practice in New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

David’s honors as a lawyer include the following: (i) election in 1984 as a fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, (ii) listing since 1991 in Best Lawyers in America in the Real Estate category and for 2010 in both the Structured Finance and the Real Estate categories, (iii) selection for 2007 and 2009 as a New York Super Lawyer in the categories of Real Estate Law and Banking Law, respectively, (iv) selection for each of 2006-2009 as a Virginia Super Lawyer in the category of Banking Law, (v) selection for 2008 as a Corporate Counsel Edition Super Lawyer in the category of Banking Law, (vi) selection as one of Virginia’s Legal Elite for 2003 in the category of Real Estate/Construction Law and for 2006 in the category of Business Law and (vii) listing in Marquis Who’s Who in America and Marquis Who’s Who in the World.

 
 
Yan Gao
Dr. Yan Gao is Assistant Professor of Finance at CEIBS. He was Assistant Professor at California State University at Los Angeles, and had taught at Baruch College of City University of New York and Northwestern University. Dr. Gao received his Ph. D. degree in Finance from Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University. He holds an MBA from Baruch College of City University of New York and a Master of Science degree from Michigan State University. His publication has appeared in various academic and professional journals. His current research is focused on Initial Public Offerings, Venture Capital, and Corporate Bonds. Before his academic career, he worked at High Yield Research Department of Merrill Lynch & Company in New York City, and later worked as an analyst in a China-focused hedge fund. Dr. Gao is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder.

Dr. Gao understands both international capital markets and Chinese investment environment. He has extensive connection in Chinese industry and government. He has been a consultant to foreign fianncial firms entering China.

Dr. Gao built his expertise and experience in the area of corporate finance, investment banking, and venture investing. He is a senior advisor of New Horizon Capital, a renowned international private equity firm. He is also investment committee member of Shenzhen Zhongou Investment Management Company, a local RMB PE fund. He is also an active angel investor in high growth firms.

Wendong Zhang
Wendong Zhang, a senior banker with nearly twenty years of investment banking and fund management experience in China, is the founder of Eastern Wisdom Capital Limited, a boutique financial service and investment advisory firm based in Beijing and Hong Kong. Eastern Wisdom Capital is involved in a range of business activities including M&A advisory, restructuring, private placements, asset management, and direct investments. Leveraging on its core strengths, Eastern Wisdom Capital provides financial advice and entrepreneurial assistance to a selective group of high quality international and Chinese clients. Prior to founding Eastern Wisdom Capital, Mr. Zhang was a Managing Director of Citi Global Capital Markets. Between Jan 2007 and Nov 2008, Mr. Zhang was Citi’s senior banker responsible for client coverage and deal origination in China. Relevant industry coverage and experience include over US$2 billion worth of transactions in sectors such as mining, metals, oil equipment, media, auto, conglomerate, retail, consumer, healthcare, and education. Prior to Citi, Mr. Zhang was a Managing Director and Head of China Investment Banking for UBS between Nov 2004 and Oct 2006. At UBS, Mr. Zhang played an instrumental role in putting together a winning team, formulating China strategies, establishing internal coordination, and creating processes to promote cooperation between various industry groups and the China team. He also made valuable contributions in the establishment of the “UBS Securities” joint venture in China. Mr. Zhang’s transaction experience includes over US$3 billion worth of deals for clients in the mining, consumer, alternative energy, and financial sectors, among others. Previously, Mr. Zhang spent almost 10 years at Morgan Stanley from 1991 to 2000, where he worked in the M&A, corporate finance and private equity divisions in New York, Hong Kong and China. Between 2000 and 2004, Mr. Zhang co-founded Compass Venture Limited, a venture capital firm specialized in investing in technology, media and telecom companies in China, and sponsored by Time Warner and Shanghai Industrial, a HKSE listed investment conglomerate controlled by the Shanghai government. Mr. Zhang is originally from Beijing.

He holds a B.A. (with honors) from Dartmouth College with a major in Engineering and a minor in Economics.
