China has a core competency in building infrastructure. Over the past several decades, China has spent billions of dollars modernizing its infrastructure. In November 2008, China also announced a stimulus package of US$586 billion in additional infrastructure investments.

  Chinese firms, with a core competency in building infrastructure in Africa, have already made infrastructure investments in Latin America. They will continue to do so. The following table highlights certain investments made over the past several years.
