Erik Bethel
Erik Bethel is a Partner and Co-Founder of SinoLatin Capital. Mr. Bethel has 18 years worth of experience in private equity and investment banking in the natural resources and infrastructure sectors in Latin America and China. He previously worked as a Managing Director at China’s first private equity fund--ChinaVest, as well as at JP Morgan Partners (the private equity arm of JP Morgan). Prior to this, he worked at Morgan Stanley’s Latin America Group, and at Emerging Markets Partnership’s US$1 billion Latin American Infrastructure Fund. His transaction experience spans the mining, agribusiness and infrastructure sectors. Mr. Bethel is a Co-Founder of SLC, where he leads the Firm’s mining efforts, and he serves on the Board of Directors of Rio Cristal Resources, a Peruvian zinc mining company.

Mr. Bethel graduated from the Wharton School of Business and the US Naval Academy, Annapolis. He lives in Shanghai with his wife and three children and speaks Spanish, English, Portuguese and Mandarin.

Luis Gómez Cobo
Luis Gomez Cobo is a Partner and Co-Founder of SinoLatin Capital, with 15 years experience in principal investment in Latin America and China. Before joining SinoLatin Capital, Mr. Gómez Cobo co-founded and served as CEO of Los Olivos Alimentos, a leading Mexican agribusiness firm. Mr. Gomez Cobo has been an investor and operator of several Latin American enterprises, including Los Olivos Alimentos, Ganaderos Productores de Leche Pura (Alpura), Nueva Tecnología en Alimentación (Nutec), Goxco World, Grupo Gómez Cobo, Saeta Continental, Figo Transport and Empacadora Zan Alfonso. At SinoLatin Capital, Mr. Gomez Cobo leads the Firm’s agribusiness efforts.

Mr. Gómez Cobo graduated from Mexico's ITESM with a Bachelor’s Degree in biochemistry and a specialization in the food industry. He also has a Masters Degree from ITESM and an MBA from China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai. He speaks Spanish, English and Mandarin and since 2007 resides in Shanghai with his wife and three children.

Jorge Barreda
Jorge Barreda is a Partner of SinoLatin Capital. Mr. Barreda is an investment banker with 13 years and over US$ 20 billion of international deal making experience. Prior to joining SLC, Mr. Barreda headed the Andean Region team for UBS Investment Bank in New York, where he originated and/or executed M&A and general corporate finance, liability management, structured and debt / equity capital markets transactions with corporate and sovereign clients in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, and Central America. Prior to UBS, he worked for Deutsche Bank in New York, where he originated and managed structured / derivatives trades, as well as capital markets transactions. Noteworthy transactions include a sell side strategic advisory to the Port of Cartagena, and the unprecedented re-profiling of Peruvian debt with the Paris Club group of creditor nations. Prior to his career in Wall St., Mr. Barreda was a junior advisor to the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Peru.

Mr. Barreda holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters Degree in Economics from Catholic University of Chile. He resides with his wife and son in Lima, Peru and in New York City.

Mei Lu
Ms. Mei Lu is a Partner at SinoLatin Capital. Previously, her 25-year career in the Chinese Government included various leadership positions at Chinese central Government agencies and at prominent Chinese State Owned Enterprises. She has led many large scale Chinese government projects, including the preparation of establishment of China Export Import Bank (China Exim Bank) and GP Capital, a RMB$20 billion quasi-sovereign industrial investment fund based in Shanghai that makes investments in the financial sector. Among her various other positions, Ms. Lu had a senior leadership role at China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), was Vice President of the China Jin Mao Group, and Vice General Manager and Certified Public Accountant for Beijing Reanda Certified Public Accountants Co., Ltd.

Ms. Mei Lu graduated from the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, majoring in Finance. She received an EMBA degree from CEIBS, the China Europe International Business School. Ms. Lu speaks Mandarin and English and resides with her family in Shanghai.

Gonzalo Waldman
Mr. Waldman is a Managing Director of SinoLatin Capital based in Shanghai. He joined the firm after a 12 year career with UBS Investment Bank where he led the bank's Latin American investment banking practice in the Metals & Mining and Energy sectors. While at UBS, he structured and executed complex M&A and capital markets transactions totaling over US$100 billion for a large number of corporate clients and governments, including several of the largest China into Latin America investments. Mr. Waldman has developed strong expertise across the natural resources industry and a solid track record in advising many of the most prominent companies in Latin America on a broad range of strategic issues. Originally from Argentina, he speaks fluent Spanish and English. Mr. Waldman graduated with honors from Universidad de San Andres in Argentina, where he studied Economics.

Sean Chang

Mr. Chang has over 6 years of M&A and private equity experience, with a focus on cross-border transactions. At SinoLatin Capital he has primarily  focused on the oil & gas sector, coal and manganese mining. He has also worked on transactions in the soybean and forestry sectors. Prior to joining SinoLatin Capital, Mr. Chang was an Associate at Arsenal Capital Partners, a middle-market private equity firm with offices in New York and Shanghai. Mr. Chang started his career as an Investment Banking Analyst at Merrill Lynch in New York.

Mr. Chang received a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting from McIntire School of Commerce at University of Virginia. He is native fluent in both Mandarin and English, and resides in Shanghai.

Nina Chen

Ms. Chen is a Senior Associate at SinoLatin Capital, based in Shanghai. At SinoLatin Capital she has worked on transactions in the mining industry (copper, zinc, iron ore) and in the agribusiness industry (fertilizers, soybeans), among others. Prior to joining the firm, she spent four years with Javelin Investments, a boutique investment consulting firm in Shanghai, where she worked on cross border mergers and acquisitions projects. Her transaction experience in China spans the manufacturing, food and beverage, and retail sectors. Ms. Chen also worked on a Nordzucker A.G. China investment project and a Flabeg Shanghai internal auditing & restructuring project as an independent consultant.

Ms. Chen holds a B.S. degree in Economics from Zhejiang University City College. She is fluent in Mandarin and English.

Maria de la Rocha

Prior to joining SinoLatin Capital, Mrs. de la Rocha was an Associate Director at UBS Investment Bank in New York. As a member of the Latin America investment banking team, she marketed and executed a number of mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions throughout the region. She has experience in the energy and metals and mining sectors, among others. Her prior experience includes positions at Guggenheim Partners, Citibank, and Corporación Andina de Fomento (CAF).

Mrs. de la Rocha holds an MBA from Columbia University, and B.S. in Business Management from North Carolina State University.

Simón Wu

Simon Wu has over 8 years’ cross-border transaction experience. At SLC he is focused on the “clean & renewable sector” including lithium (batteries, electric vehicles) , uranium (energy), REE, and sustainable agriculture projects. Previously, Mr. Wu was a financial consultant for Javelin Investments, a boutique American investment bank based in Shanghai. While at Javelin, Simon executed several cross-border transactions in industries such as water treatment, hydro generation, temporary power solution, valves and manufacturing.

Mr. Wu obtained his MBA degree with a concentration on corporate finance from MIT Sloan/Fudan University and he has a bachelor’s degree in automation engineering from Jiangsu University. He also studied economics in University of Zurich.

Felipe Canales
Mr. Canales is a Financial Analyst at SinoLatin Capital where he has been primarily focused on the non-ferrous metals mining sector. Before joining SinoLatin Capital, Mr. Canales worked in the Financial Advisory Division at Deloitte in Monterrey, Mexico where he participated on M&A advisory projects.

Mr. Canales has a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from ITESM in Monterrey, Mexico. He has significant foreign experience in Latin America, China and Canada and speaks fluent Spanish and English and conversational German and Chinese. Mr. Canales resides with his wife in Shanghai.

Roger Yu

Before joining Sinolatin Captial, Mr. Yu worked in the credit risk management division at China Construction Bank (Asia) in Hong Kong, where he engaged in analyzing the credit risk of corporate clients and developing financial models to test the performance of bank’s several portfolios under different macroeconomic scenarios. He also gained experience in the Investment Banking Division at Huatai Securities.

Mr. Yu received B.S. in Physics from The University of Hong Kong and graduated from Boston College with a Master of Science in Finance. While at Boston College, he participated in managing the Boston College Endowment Fund as the equity analyst and the risk manager. He also passed all three levels of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exams. He is fluent in Mandarin,Cantonese and English. Mr. Yu resides in New York.

Betty Yang

Before joining SinoLatin Capital as internal accountant, Ms.Yang worked as an accountant at Monusine SAS. Previously, she worked as accountant in SBA Stone Forest Corporate Advisory (Shanghai) Co., Ltd, which is a member of RSM International, the world's seventh largest accounting and consulting organization. Prior to that, Ms. Yang worked as investment analyst in Tospur Consulting Co., Ltd.

Ms. Yang received Masters Degree in business administration from Tongji University. She fluent in Mandarin and English and resides in Shanghai.
